This was our first activity beside hiking, the outreach program that happened last August. Grace Valdez was the one who founded this program where performed in Ulanguan Minority School, Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro. We, the backpackers-TYL, brought the things that be given to the grade school students of Ulanguan. This include medicines, foods, shoes, and clothes for the minor and tribes around the village. We had met new company who invited us to joined this program, her name was Marie together with two friends. We travel through RoRo bound for Abra, Mindoro, unfortunately, we were met by bad weather. Mam Haide and Sir Silva were waiting for us at the bus stop. There were road that are not passable by tricycle because of flood where our donations placed inside the trike. We wait at the upriver until all of us reach it. The storm ebb yet to our travel so we need to secure our belongings and keep it dry. We trek for almost an hour before reaching the school, our campsite. The tribes helped us to carry our donations and belongings even it was in the middle of the night with no street lights except our carrying headlight. We met a good weather in the morning, where the program get started. Its been a huge number of students attending the program together with the tribes from different places. The program were last for almost four hours and we had to changing first because we're hungry. We were happy to saw the smile in the face of the students wearing there new shoes. The tribes were also excited to wore there new clothes together with there foods. In return, they performed interpreted dance with song also their councilor gave us a thankful message through his song. After the program, we hike mount Borneyo, a low mountain near the school so we got relax and have picture taking in the summit. Mount Halcon was visible in the Ulanguan and it would take one week to reach the mountain. The rain pour again so we decided to descent and back to campsite and spent the night chatting with the school teacher and some tribes. On the last day, we trek Baong river and spent an hour for swimming and relaxation. Around 1300H, we start descent and spent our lunch from Sir Silva house. We took some rest until the pick-up van arrived.
